Irina Ries

Irina Ries was born in Wiesbaden in autumn 1982. After graduating from high school, she studied acting at the Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding and the University for Music and Theatre in Munich, which she completed with a diploma in 2007. In 2005 she received a scholarship from the German Stage Club, Bavarian State Association. During her studies she has engagements at the Munich Residenztheater, the Metropoltheater Munich and the E.T.A.-Hoffmann-Theater in Bamberg. In addition, she plays in numerous productions at the Akademietheater Munich, for example in the role of Cate in ZERBOMBT/Direction: Dina Keller. As an acting student Irina Ries also participates in various readings and song recitals and can be seen as Luna in the short film "In between" by Felix Bärwald.

In 2007 she made her debut at the Stadttheater Gießen in the role of Jeanne in Mouawad's VERBRENNUNGEN and is a permanent member of the ensemble until summer 2011 in numerous productions (including Doris/DAS KUNSTSEIDENE MÄDCHEN/Director: Christian Fries, Irina/DREI SCHWESTERN/Thomas Goritzki, Marie/WOYZECK/T. Goritzki, Stella/ENDSTATION SEHNSUCHT/Wolfram J. Starczewski, Hilde, Inge, Coco/GRAF ÖDERLAND/Dirk Schulz, Constanze/AMADEUS/Astrid Jacob, Elektra/DIE ORESTIE/Titus Georgi).

Engagements in Munich, Marburg, Eisenach and Meiningen follow. Among them is the solo HEUTE ABEND: LOLA BLAU/Carsten Kochan.
In 2014 Ries changes for two seasons to the Junge Staatstheater Wiesbaden as actress and director (2015 DIE WANZE, 2016 PATRICK ANDERTHALB, 2019 JENNY HÜBNER GREIFT EIN).

2017/2018 follows a sabbatical year. Together with her husband she explores Europe in a camping bus and travels to Brazil.

Since then Irina Ries has been working as a freelancer and lives in Gießen. In 2019 she plays in the division opening of the Bruchwerk Theatre in Siegen together with Lisa Sophie Kusz in Maria Milisavljevic's play BEBEN/Direction/Equipment: Milan Pešl and Teresa Pešl. In addition, since 2019, she has again been performing the solo HEUTE ABEND: LOLA BLAU in her own revision and is touring throughout Germany with pianist Christian Keul.

In addition to her work as an actress and director, Ries also works as a voiceover artist (dubbing for aaron:.film, Nuremberg, RadioLiveTheatre) and coach on the topics of "Body / Voice" and "Self Perception / Presentation".

As a participant in the nationwide campaign "40,000 theatre employees* meet their representatives" Irina Ries is a member of the Ensemble Netzwerk e. V. and winner of the 2018 perspective prize of the German theatre award DER FAUST.
She is deputy state chairwoman of the GDBA (Union of German Stage Workers) and freelance delegate of the Hesse/Rhineland-Palatinate/Saarland state association.
