Reflexions

There is a dance theare play.
It is about feelings and empathy.

The project is called: Reflexions.

This is an English word.
It means:
Reflections.
It can also mean:
Thinking about things.
Mirroring.
Responding to feelings.

It is a dance theatre play.
It is about feelings.

Empathy means:
I can feel
how other people feel.

The piece asks:
Can people feel with others?
Can people understand each other?

The piece shows:
The world is not only black or white.
There are many in-between tones.
Many colors.
The world is colorful.

The project was created in Cologne.

The artists had many conversations.
They asked questions about empathy.

Many different people were asked.
For example:
Children.
Adults.
Older people.
People from politics and work.
People from the street.

All answers were collected.
No names were used.
Only the job was mentioned.

These voices can be heard in the piece.
They tell the story.

On stage, there is dancing.
The dance shows feelings.
In this way, thoughts become visible.

The audience also takes part.
There are questions and small exercises.

At the end, the piece asks:
How can we live together?
How can we feel with each other?
And are we really so without feelings,
as we sometimes think?

The first performance was in 2012.
The place was Cologne.

The concept and direction were by
Dominik Breuer.

The choreography was by
Morgane de Toeuf.

as part of a residency
in Cologne.
