The project is called: Living Democracy!
It is about taking part.
It is about democracy.
The project took place outdoors.
For example on streets and public squares.
The project brings people into conversation.
People stop.
They join in small games.
They talk about important topics.
The project wants to strengthen democracy.
All people should be able to speak and take part.
The project took place in 2017.
The reason was the elections in North Rhine-Westphalia.
The Brachland Ensemble travelled around.
Together with the State Agency
for Civic Education NRW.
NRW stands for:
the federal state North Rhine-Westphalia.
It is in Germany.
There were many events.
In many cities in NRW.
People were approached in a playful way.
This created conversations.
The conversations became deeper.
People talked about questions like:
What does it mean to make the world better?
Can one person change something?
Which world do we mean?
The big world?
Or our own world?
There was an action bus.
Around the bus, there were activities.
Activities are offers.
For example:
Conversations.
Theatre.
Games.
Before the election, there was a voting tool.
It was called: Wahl-O-Mat.
This is german.
It means: vote machine.
The concept was by
Dominik Breuer,
Gunnar Seidel,
and Maria Isabel Hagen.
Many artists took part.
The project was created with the
State Agency for Civic Education NRW.
