Casting Culture

Casting Culture

Casting Culture is an online role-play game.

The game takes place on the internet.
Participants take part.

The project is about discrimination.

Discrimination means:
Some people are treated unfairly.

What is it about in general?

The project shows:
Discrimination is not always easy to see.
Some problems exist,
but they are hidden.

The project makes these problems visible.
And easy to experience.

It works like a game.
Everyone is safe.
No one is treated unfairly.

Participants play a role.
They make decisions.
They experience the results.
This helps people learn.

What is it about exactly?

Casting Culture was created in the project Touchscreen.
The project is from the Brachland Ensemble.
It was funded by the Fonds Darstellende Künste.

The piece tells a story:

An advertising agency gets a lot of criticism.

An advertising agency is a company
that makes advertisements.

A commercial video causes anger on the internet.
Many people are upset.
The boss of the company is named Peter.
He has a lot of power.
He wants to improve the company's image.

The company looks for new employees.
It also looks for new leaders.

Everything should look modern and creative.

There are ten applicants.
Everyone should have the same chance.
Only performance should count.

Participants experience this process.
They notice:
Not everyone gets the same chances.

The game shows:
Discrimination is real.
But we can change something.
