About

arts / society /

The Brachland Ensemble makes art.

It connects:
Theatre.
Research.
Political education.
The Brachland Ensemble exists since the year 2011.

What is it about in general?

The ensemble makes art for society.
It works with imagination and reality.
Between play and real stories.

The works want to reach people.
People should think.
And talk with each other.

What is it about exactly?

The Brachland Ensemble wants
people to think carefully.
People should be curious.

The ensemble wants to:
Create space for new ideas.
Give room to learn new things.
Create a place
where people can meet.

The Brachland Ensemble has no fixed place.
It is a mobile theatre.
It travels a lot.
To many different places.

The topics are diverse.
They are about society.
They are about politics.
They are about media and science.
They are also about personal questions.

At the beginning there is always research.

Research means:

You learn about a topic.
You read a lot.
You talk to many people.

This research is very intensive.
It happens in Germany and abroad.

The ensemble has been to many countries.
For example:
India,
Ghana,
and Japan.
Also in Germany
and other countries in Europe.

In this way, many contacts were created.
With artists and organizations
from many parts of the world.

The ensemble works in a playful way.

It uses many art forms.
There is acting.
There is dance.
There is film.
There are also exhibitions.
Everything is included.

Since 2011, many projects were created.
For example:
Solo performances.
Large theatre productions.
Video exhibitions.
Audio walks.
Projects for political education.

A large part of the work is serious.
And very deep.
It is about important problems.
Another part of the work is playful.
It should be fun.
It should be creative.

Seriousness and play belong together.

That is what the Brachland Ensemble says.
